Before your first run
Running carries risk. Please read the participation terms below. You confirm them when you create an account.
Participation terms
You take part at your own risk
Run a Mile sessions are informal group runs, not supervised or officially organised sporting events. There is no medical cover, no marshalling and no insurance provided by the club. You take part entirely at your own risk and remain responsible for your own safety at all times.
Make sure you are fit to run
You confirm that you are in good enough health to take part. If you have any doubt, or any medical condition or injury that running could affect, speak to a doctor before joining. Tell one of the group before you set off if there is anything we should know in an emergency.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Luxembourg law, Run a Mile, its founders, volunteers and partners accept no liability for any injury, accident, illness, loss or damage to property arising from taking part in a run or event. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
On the road
Our routes use public roads, paths and parks that are not closed to traffic. You are responsible for obeying the Highway Code and for your own road sense. Run in a way that is safe for you and for the people around you.
Under 18s
Runners under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian, who takes responsibility for them for the duration of the session.
Photos
We sometimes take photos at runs and events and post them on our Instagram. Tell any member of the crew if you would rather not appear in them, and let us know if a photo of you is already up and you want it taken down.
1. Information We Collect
When you register for an account on "Run a Mile", we collect basic profile information including your name, email address, gender, and the running circuits you choose to participate in. This information is strictly used to organize the races and to allow race administrators to manage the rosters.
1b. Why we ask for your gender
We ask for it for one reason: some of our sessions are women only, and we need to be able to manage places on them fairly. It is visible to you and to club administrators, never to other runners, and we do not use it for anything else.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your personal data is utilized solely for the functional operation of the "Run a Mile" application. This includes displaying your name to other participants in a race roster (if the admin enables roster viewing), and for communicating important event updates. We do not sell or share your personal data with third-party marketers.
2b. Membership pass and partner benefits
Each time you use your pass at a partner, we record who you are, which partner, which version of the benefit, the time, and whether it was accepted or refused, and why if it was refused.
We use it to apply the limits of a benefit, to prevent abuse, and to produce statistics for Run a Mile.
Only Run a Mile administrators can see these records. Partners do not have access to them.
We keep them for 24 months, then delete them.
If you pay for a membership, Stripe processes your payment data; we never see or store your card number. We keep only your subscription status and its current period.
3. Data Security
We implement standard security measures to protect your account and personal information. Passwords are securely hashed before being stored in our database.
4. Your Rights
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated data at any time. You can also edit your profile information from within your dashboard.
5. Contact Us
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact the "Run a Mile" administration team.
